Dare to Act

"We say we are scared by failure. But what frightens us even more is the possibility of success."

- The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron

2016 was a year of DISCOVERY. It was a time of new experiences, determining my path in the next few months, overcoming doubt and starting this blog, even trying to write a novel in a month.

2017 is a year of DOING.

I think that this idea of "daring" and taking the "first step" and "acting instead of just dreaming" is following me around.

When ideas start to follow me around, I take it as a sign that something important is there.

I recently shared an article on Facebook about Myers Briggs Personality Types and what our “statement” was for the new year. Sort of like a horoscope for psychology nerds. I’m an INFJ in MBTI, and our “statement” was this:

INFJ: You don’t have to have the entire course mapped out in order to take the first step.

Being the oldest child, an introvert, and a lover of journals, I’m naturally a planner. I love making lists and plans, I actually enjoy writing out schedules. The problem is following my carefully laid plans.

This year, those plans are going to be followed. It’s time to start DOING.

As you make your new year’s resolutions, ask yourself this question: What idea is following you?

Or, perhaps the more important question - what are you going to do with that idea?
