Tuesday Lists

Yes, I do realize that my tea cup appears to be glowing. It's called SUPER TEA.

Well, we are already a week into December! How?! Another scary newsflash: ONLY 19 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!! With all of you sufficiently freaked out over the insanely fast passage of time, here are some lists of things I've bene reading/listening to/watching lately. Enjoy!

To the Barricades: Aimee’s sarcastic, to-the-point, gif-filled posts on writing and life are beautiful. Do yourself a favor. Check her blog out.

A Writer’s Faith: Katie’s beautifully designed blog is just a joy to scroll through. Each post inspires me to write more, journal, or draw a picture. Basically just be creative. If you’re looking for inspiration, practical writing tips, and lovely photos, you need A Writer’s Faith.

Damsel Semi-Distressed: Recently found this blog, and just reading the first few lines of the most recent post intrigued me and inspired me a lot. Can’t wait to dig through the archives and find more gems in this blog.

Living Among Lions by the Benham Brothers. Twin brothers David and Jason Benham were contracted by HGTV for a show in fixing up old realty, but their contract was rescinded after they came under fire for their religious beliefs. Their first book, Whatever the Cost, was chock-full of amazing anecdotes and insights on real life Christianity. Living Among Lions promises to provide the same amount of wisdom in the context of living in modern-day America.

The Litigators by John Grisham. Because he’s America’s favorite author! And he writes very good mysteries, apparently. I recently watched a movie version of one of his books and it simultaneously robbed me of several hours of sound sleep (I mean, PEOPLE HIDING IN CLOSETS?!?!?! HELP ME.) and also sparked my interest in this genre of books. I’m only a few pages in, so more thoughts soon.

Re-picked up The Scorpio Races. Because, how could I not? This book is written by my favorite author, Maggie Stiefvater. I feel like there will be a full post review of this book, but for now a few sentences will not do this amazing book justice. I have only a few words: HORSES. SMALL BRITISH ISLANDS. INTROVERTED, SUBTLE ROMANCE. MAGIC. NEED I SAY MORE?

Gilmore Girls Finale. I have many thoughts on this. It was a rollercoaster of me being impressed with the characterization, and then disappointed with the plot, then thoroughly impressed by the ending, then confused by why all these extra plot points?! Anyway. Full review to come. I know you’re on the edge of your seats.

Psych. NO words will express my love for this show. It’s funny, it’s interesting, it’s fake psychics and murder mysteries. ‘Nuff said.

Crown. A historically based show about the rise of Elizabeth II to the throne of England. British accents, learning history, and dramatic music?! My kind of show. Can’t wait to see more episodes! I’ve gotten through the pilot and that’s about it so far… Christmas break here I come.

“Liminal Spaces – an Interview with Sarah Deshields of Broadcast Safe” (Makers & Mystics – this was the podcast mentioned in my post on Liminal Spaces!)

“Pilot of Welcome to Nightvale” – technically can’t give a final opinion on this one yet because I just started listening to it, but I’m listing it anyway. Nightvale is a fictional podcast, revolutionary in a genre known as “Magical Realism.” Just the sound of that genre gives me shivers! I can’t wait to hear more!

“James Martin – Finding God in All Things” (On Being) I can’t recommend all of the episodes of the On Being podcast, but this episode interviewed a Jesuit priest of the St. Ignatius Loyola order. He had AMAZING things to say about pursuing God and what that might truly look like in every aspect of our lives.

Hope you enjoy checking all these great things out! I know you will, right? :)

What have you been listening to/watching/reading lately? Let me know in the comments!
